Interest rates are at their highest level in a decade. Inflation is at its highest level in 33 years. Cost of living is the number one issue facing Australians right now.
Labor has abandoned Australians at a time when they’re seeing higher energy bills, high grocery prices, and high mortgage repayments. Labor has delivered a high taxing, high spending Budget that will only make the cost of living crisis worse for Australians.
That’s why I worked with colleagues to propose that the Senate establish the Senate Select Committee on Cost of Living. As Chair, I am determined for the Committee to find practical, implementable solutions to the cost of living crisis that will make a real difference for Australians.
The Cost of Living Committee is hearing directly from the public about how cost of living pressures are affecting them. Through this process, we are seeking to recommend practical solutions to address the cost of living without adding to inflation.
Senator the Hon. Jane Hume, Liberal Senator for Victoria, is Chair of the Cost of Living Committee. Find out more about Senator Hume.
